BOURBON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS WANTED
Bourbon Fire Protection District is staffed entirely by volunteers and is always looking for dedicated and aggressive people to serve as volunteers.
Volunteers are used in various capacities within the Bourbon Fire Protection District. In addition to providing fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services; volunteers spend countless hours training, upkeep of fire apparatus, equipment and facilities.
Becoming a volunteer firefighter is a unique experience that can be quite rewarding, no experience is necessary to become a volunteer member. All it takes is motivation, dedication, professionalism and a commitment to the long hours, hazardous situations and dirty work. This is a commitment that not only you but also your family must agree upon.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Responsible for all fire suppression duties necessary to save life and property. Combat, extinguish and/or prevent fires by rapidly and efficiently performing varied duties as required under emergency conditions (frequently involving considerable hazard).
- Provide emergency medical response and aid; perform rescue/extrication operations where necessary to prevent loss of life or further injury from any cause.
- Provide service assistance with respect to, but not restricted to the following: police, paramedics and public.
- Responsible for station maintenance and upkeep of fire fighting equipment and fire district property.
- Responsible for upgrading and maintaining skills/knowledge and physical requirements to current standards.
- Perform duties in fire prevention, public education as assigned.
FIREFIGHTER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age and posses a valid Missouri driver’s license
- Submit to a criminal background check (paid for by the district)
- Submit to drug testing (paid for by the district.)
- Probationary membership for 6 month period.
- Attend weekly fire meetings on all Tuesdays.
CADET-JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER
- Must be at least 15 years of age and at least Freshman in High School.
- Must maintain a “C” average in school to remain with the District.
- Must depart fire station and emergency incidents prior to 11pm
- Approval from parent or guardian.
If you are interested in volunteering with Bourbon Fire in any capacity stop by the firehouse anytime or meetings are held every Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
